DESTINATION: Ayia Napa, Cyprus

The 2nd and last destination of my family’s weekend getaway in Cyprus, was Ayia Napa. A lovely and oh! so touristy town on the East of the island of Cyprus.

Named by the monastery that helds its name since the 15th century, Ayia Napa is nowadays a very popular destination among young tourists, mainly because of the variety of bars and restaurants it has to offer.

So, how does history and modern lifestyle comes to life in such a small town without being strange for the  eye, you may ask. Well, it doesn’t. Ayia Napa from my point of view is two worlds combined in one place.

The best way to make the most of what is has to offer is to start wandering from the top of the hill, from the monastery of Ayia Napa, and the even older cave, where the “Icon of Virgin Mary of Napes”, was found.IMG_20160508_124121

Take your time there, realize how peaceful a place can be, and whenever you feel ready, start walking down the hill, entering a whole different scene.

Thematic restaurants, next to fish spas, next to souvenir shops. A well organized mess, that promises to please even the most demanding of the tourists. You.

If you enjoy night life, bar hopping and all these things, you’re at the right place. However, if you, like me, are more of a beach life person, dreaming of summer getaways all year long, then you are also at the right place.

Let us just take a moment and appreciate these crystal clear waters.

All in all, if you still haven’t found your summer holidays destination, then Cyprus should definitely be it.
